I have several BBQ sauce recipes I have been tweaking over the years. The Honey BBQ Sauce has gotten me lots of pats on the back so I thought it would be a good recipe to share here on Collab Kitchen. We recently used this with our Grilled Wings recipe and it completely blew our minds! So here’s our Honey Barbecue Chicken Wings recipe which includes the Honey BBQ Sauce, and a bonus Quick Ranch Dressing recipe.

Honey Barbecue Sauce

Yield: 5 Cups

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, minced
  • 8 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 to 1 1/2 cup Jack Daniel’s, or to taste
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 4 cups ketchup
  • 2/3 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/3 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 1/2 cups molasses
  • 3 cups honey
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1/2 cup tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons liquid smoke
  • 1 teaspoon (or to taste) hot sauce (Tabasco or Cholula), optional

Instructions

  1. In a 6 quart saucepan over medium heat, saute minced onion and garlic with oil until translucent, about 10 minutes. Add Jack Daniels into the saucepan and bring to a boil for 1 minute. (Add more Jack Daniel’s if a stronger flavor is desired.) Strain out onion and garlic from liquid if you don’t want chunks in your sauce. Add all the remaining ingredients and bring to boil. Reduce heat so sauce simmers, uncovered until it is reduced and thickened, about 15 to 20 minutes. Serve on your favorite grilled chicken, brisket or any other meat (even in baked beans!).

  • 1/2 cup buttermilk (more if you desire a runnier dressing)
  • Fresh dill, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Kosher salt and fresh ground pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients into a bowl and serve with your favorite grilled chicken wings or salad. Serve immediately (if you’re in a pinch!) or cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes to let the flavors combine a little more.
